Plenty of challenges in this game.
I pulled in late last night after a journey that started as one thing and ended up being something totally different.
The plan had been to shoot a distant wave. There was lots of preparation, new equipment and a huge drive. After what felt like a hurdle race of challenges and somewhere around ten km’s along a deserted beach and ten km’s short of the mark I buried both the 4wd and the ski to their respective axles. The terrain had completely stopped me. Solo and with the odds stacking up my plan fell apart. I did eventually receive some help and after four hours was brought back to the safety of the rough but drivable road.
Disappointment was an understatement. Kind of left me a totally flat.
Stacked up another bunch of hours driving back to Esperance where I spent a day hanging around looking for a bit of spark. Got a few images of interest and set up camp just outside Cape Le Grande national park.
Pretty well on dawn the next day I strolled out on to the beach and the sky lit up. At first everything looked like it had been painted in vivid gold and then it went orange, then pink and finally once the sun was properly up the wild blue of the local ocean came to life.
Apart from a faded set of 4wd marks in the sand there wasn’t a single sign of another human being. It was just the surrounds and myself.
Such a beautiful thing.
Took a series of images which will make there way in to the gallery, both web and actual. Here are a few. Hope you like them.
The website gets a revamp next week, mostly practical stuff. Hope you like that too.
