Heading out to one of my favourite playgrounds, Indonesia.
For perfect surf it is so hard to beat. From my first trip in 1981 it has been a regular on my itinerary. Early days were around Bali and Lombok and Sumbawa. Now I tend to find my self up the other end and am about to embark on trip no 12 to the Mentawai islands.
I’m travelling on The Barrenjoey, which in my eyes is the best boat up there. There are others that are more flash but the Joey is comfortable and efficient and if you want the real surf experience right on the money. Food is super yum too!
The last three years have been in land camps which has it’s own advantages but to be back on a boat means more variety in the waves you can get to. Really pumped to get back to a few of the more out of the way spots.
Photographically I aim to come back with a variety of new images for the gallery. With three months trading under the belt and a new awareness on what you folk like I really hope to add a new dimension to the selection
I’ll be back fairly soon but in the meantime here is selection from earlier trips.
Oh and don’t forget Warrahwillah is running a competition on it’s Facebook page. You can win one of three prints from one of my favourite waves in the world. And yes, it is in Indonesia.
Speak soon.
