Australian Institute of Professional Photography – Wappa Awards
I’ve had a very pleasing week. My entries in the Western Australian print awards have done better than I expected. From the three prints entered I picked up one silver and one silver distinction award.
Before the judging I really had no idea where I stood with the wave/ocean images produced over the last two years. There is no real benchmark for assessment of these shots. The learning curve has been steep and there has been loads of effort to get to this point. To say I had a degree of nervousness prior to the judging would be an understatement.
As it turned out all was good. Probably my two favorite images picked up the awards and my absolute favorite (Sculptured Curtain) attained the highest score and highest level of award.
Interestingly both of these images were shot from the water, way harder than land based photography.
The outcome of all this from my point of view is the enthusiasm levels are topped up and raring to go. Right now I’m chilling at home doing lots of processing and admin but as soon as my main camera comes back from repair at canon I’m back out there again.
F.Y.I. The AIPP is the peak professional body for photographers in Australia and is highly regarded internationally.
